Movie halls across the country were shut down since the third week of March owing to the coronavirus pandemic. Though film buffs and those from the industry were hopeful of getting permission from the government to resume the business, looks like they have to wait a little more to get nod. Cinephiles have been keeping themselves busy over the last few months with OTT content.
Rajinikanth fans who got Thalaivar darisanam with Murugadoss’s Darbar earlier this year, was excited when makers of Annaatthe had announced a while ago that the project will hit screens for Pongal 2021. However, it was later conveyed that the movie’s shooting will take place only after there is a drastic dip in the pandemic onslaught.
But Superstar fans now have another reason to rejoice as the ever popular film Moondru Mugam will be re-releasing on France on August 2. It is said that the show of the Jagannathan film released in 1982, will be held at Gaumont Saint-Denis movie hall, in Paris, at 4pm (IST). Interestingly, Darbar which also had Rajini in a cop’s role was re-released in France earlier this month, along with Siva’s Ajith-starrer Viswasam. Both were Pongal releases, released in 2019 and 2020 respectively, and had 14 and 8 shows in the same movie hall which will screen the iconic Moondru Mugam.
