Rajinikanth’s birthday: Kamal Haasan says, ' 75 years of a remarkable life. 50 years of legendary cinema'

Superstar Rajinikanth is celebrating his 75th birthday, and social media has turned into a festival dedicated to the icon.

Leading the wishes was Kamal Haasan, who wrote, “75 years of a remarkable life. 50 years of legendary cinema. Happy birthday, my friend @rajinikanth.”

Rare reunion confirmed: Rajinikanth–Kamal Haasan film in the works

Adding to the excitement, Rajinikanth confirmed that a film featuring both him and Kamal Haasan is officially being planned. Speaking at the Chennai airport, he revealed, “We are going to do a film with Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies. The director has not yet been decided... If we get a story and role, we will act.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered heartfelt greetings for Rajinikanth on his birthday, saying, “His performances have captivated generations… This year has been notable because he completed 50 years in the world of films. Praying for his long and healthy life.” Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, fans, friends and film fraternity members joined in what has become one of the most celebrated birthdays in Indian cinema this year.

Tributes from across the industry poured in—Dhanush wrote, “Happy birthday thalaiva,” while Karthik Subbaraj thanked the Superstar “for making our life beautiful”. Actor Harish Kalyan shared how Baasha shaped his childhood.

Padayappa re-release and exciting sequel tease

To mark Rajinikanth's 75th birthday, his blockbuster 'Padayappa' has been re-released in theatres. Ahead of the re-release, Rajinikanth dropped a major revelation, saying, “It suddenly occurred to me, why not do a second part to Padayappa… the title will be ‘Neelambari – Padayappa 2’. We are in the process of discussing its story.”

He explained the cultural impact of the original, recalling, “The first time women broke open the gates of a theatre to watch a film was Padayappa.”
