Ramarajan admitted to hospital; awaiting COVID-19 results

Popular actor-director Ramarajan, best remembered for films like

Karagattakaran

and

Enga Ooru Pattukaran

, has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai after he complained of breathing issues. He has also done a coronavirus test and is awaiting results.

A source says, “Ramarajan complained of breathing problem recently after an AC mechanic had come home to service the air conditioner. So, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. The actor decided to get himself admitted until he felt better. He has also undergone a

COVID-19

test. Results are expected to come by tomorrow. The actor will be at the hospital till the results come, and further course of medication and treatment will be decided only after that.”

Ramarajan, who debuted in the industry with minor roles in films in the late 70s, started his journey as a director. He directed Mannukketha Ponnu and Marudhani, among other films. He debuted as a hero with Namma Ooru Nalla Ooru and went on to star in several hits. His last film as an actor was Medhai, which released in 2012. He was also an active politician in the 90s. There were reports of Ramarajan returning to direction this year, with a film starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. However, there’s been no official confirmation on the same.
