‘Retro’, the much-anticipated film starring Suriya and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has had a solid run at the box office so far. As of its ninth day, the film has earned a total of approximately ₹56.09 crore in India net across all languages. The film opened on a high with ₹19.25 crore on Day 1, powered by its strong Tamil version performance. Though collections dipped slightly during weekdays, the film showed steady recovery over the weekend.
Mid-week dips but overall momentum sustained
The movie saw consistent collections through the weekend, with Day 3 and Day 4 raking in ₹8 crore and ₹8.15 crore respectively. Weekdays naturally brought a decline, with Day 5 recording ₹3.4 crore, followed by ₹2.5 crore and ₹1.9 crore on Day 6 and Day 7. On Day 11 (second Sunday), ‘Retro’ managed to earn ₹1.95 crore despite being in its second weekend, pushing its total collection to ₹56.09 crore.
Tamil version leads the charge
The Tamil version continues to be the driving force behind ‘Retro’s success, contributing over ₹56 crore to the total tally. On Day 11, the film saw a peak as it entered into its second weekend, with average morning shows at 15.7%, increasing slightly through the day. Even as the film entered its second Sunday (Day 11), it collected ₹3.25 crore across languages—indicative a sustained performance.
Looking ahead: Steady path predicted
With positive word-of-mouth and strong audience reception, particularly among Tamil viewers, ‘Retro’ is expected to continue its run with decent numbers throughout its second week. The film’s content and star power are proving enough to hold audiences’ interest even beyond the initial hype.
