Saira Banu reveals reasons for her divorce from AR Rahman, supports the composer
A.R. Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, were once considered one of the most loving couples in the public eye, both in cinema and in their personal lives. Their relationship was known for its deep affection, with the couple often seen sharing love and companionship without hesitation. However, recently, Saira Banu made the announcement that she would be separating from A.R. Rahman. She revealed that an irreparable gap had formed between them, leading to the decision of divorce and her intention to break the marital bond with the renowned music composer.
In light of this separation, videos circulating on social media spreading defamatory content about the couple have caused distress. A.R. Rahman’s lawyer, Narmadha Sampath, has swiftly intervened, sending notices to the social media platforms and YouTubers involved, demanding the removal of these videos to prevent further harm.
In a recent audio message to Sun News, Saira Banu clarified the reasons for the divorce. She emphasized that no one should speak ill of AR Rahman, describing him as "the best person in the world" and one who could never be matched. She explained that her health had been a major concern, which led her to seek medical treatment in Mumbai. Due to her health condition, she decided to take a temporary break from AR Rahman and expressed that the separation was a result of her health struggles. Saira Banu also stated that she did not wish to disturb her children or AR Rahman during this difficult time. She further expressed that she held him in the highest regard, stating that her trust in him was greater than her life. She reassured everyone that after her treatment, she would return to Chennai soon, and asked for no disgrace to be brought to his name, as he is, in her words, an extraordinary human being.
A.R. Rahman, often referred to as the 'Mozart of Madras', has achieved numerous milestones in his illustrious career. He has won countless awards, including the prestigious Academy Award, and has brought immense pride to India with his global recognition. The couple, who married in 1995 in Chennai, share three children: two daughters, Khatija and Raheema, and a son, Ameen.
Recently AR Rahman issues a legal notice addressing those spreading defamatory and objectionable content targeting him along with his family. The notice read, "Notice to all slanderers from ARR's Legal Team," Rahman wrote on X, sharing a notice that provides a 24-hour window for the removal of such content, stating that failure to comply could result in legal consequences. "My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours."
On the work front, AR Rahman will be composing for the most awaited Mani Ratnam's directorial 'Thug Life' starring Kamal Haasan in the lead.
