While we gush a lot about the
superhero
characters of today, the only superhero who worked his magic with kids in the 90s was
Shaktimaan
. Mukesh Khanna, who played the character, was an instant hit among kids and youngsters, back in those days. And when he came to Chennai for a show, actor-director fulfilled his dream of meeting Shaktimaan.
He says, "He had come to Rajarathinam Stadium to meet his fans. I badly wanted to go as I am a huge fan of Shaktimaan. My parents decided to fulfill my wish. They came to my school to pick me up and I changed my uniform in my school itself. My brother, too, came along with us (yellow shirt). The hall was packed and we didn't know how to meet him personally. Since my father's friend was the organiser, they let us to meet him while he was sitting in his make-up room. He spoke to me, asked my name and asked me to study well. We even took pictures. I remember being very happy. I was looking at an old album and this picture brought back several memories."
