Director Manoj Beedha’s Agent Kannayiram is gearing up to hit screens this Friday. The detective comedy thriller, starring Santhanam in the lead, along with Riya Suman, Sruthi Hariharan, Munishkanth, Redin Kingsley, Pugazh and Guru Somasundaram, among others, is a remake of the Telugu film Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya. Ahead of its release, the team had organised a press meet.

Speaking at the event, Santhanam, who plays a detective in the film, said, “Even though Agent Kannayiram is a remake, the director has made several changes in the script. In the Telugu original, there's an emotional angle between a mother and son. But that was not used throughout the script. But in this film, our director has utilised that angle entirely. So, this film will feel different.”

The actor added, “He didn't let me do comedy scenes at all. I also learnt quite a few things for this role, like horse-riding, and have performed quite a few action sequences as well.”

Santhanam was also all praise for his team. “Riya Suman, Pugazh... all of them have done different kinds of characters. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is very important to the film. All the technicians have put in a lot of effort to make this film stand out,” he said.

Pugazh, who shares scenes with Santhanam in the film, said, “Santhanam is like a brother to me; he has played a huge role in my growth as an actor. I want to thank him for giving me this opportunity. We both will come across as a unique combo in this film.”
