Actor Vijay-starrer ‘Sarkar’ has landed in a fresh trouble after the Tamil Nadu public health department issued a notice to Vijay and AR Murugadoss for promoting smoking in the first look poster. According to reports, the Health Department has reportedly asked the makers of ‘Sarkar’ to remove one of the posters that has Vijay smoking a cigarette.
Following the notice, Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the massive project, has removed the controversial poster from its Twitter page. However, the poster is still visible on Vijay’s twitter account.
Prior to this, ‘Sarkar’ came under severe criticism for promoting the use of cigarettes. Hours after the release of the poster, the former Union Health Minister and PMK leader
Anbumani Ramadoss took to Twitter to condemn Vijay.
He wrote, “Shame on Actor Vijay for promoting Smoking in this first look of his next movie.”
On the other hand, the first look poster, which was unveiled on Vijay’s birthday, became a terrific hit on the internet. Made on a lavish budget by Sun Pictures, ‘Sarkar’ stars Keerthy Suresh,
Radha Ravi, Pala Karuppiah,
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Yogi Babu in supporting roles. The film has AR Rahman composing the music, while senior editor Sreekar Prasad is in charge of the edits. ‘Sarkar’ is slated to release on Diwali this year.
