Sathyaraj breaks silence on the ‘Sivaji’ controversy, rekindles bond with Rajinikanth in 'Coolie'
Sathyaraj, who began his journey in Tamil cinema as a villain's henchman, initially appeared mostly in small dialogues. But his life took a major turn after he teamed up with director Manivannan. Sathyaraj, who captured the attention of fans with the film ‘Nooravadu Naal,’ developed his own style and became a unique actor. Since then, he has established himself among fans not only as a villain but also as a hero.
Sathyaraj's connection with Rajinikanth is also of interest to Tamil cinema fans. Sathyaraj played Rajinikanth's father in the film 'Mr. Bharath' and later appeared in small roles in his films. But at one point, allegations arose that he avoided acting in Rajinikanth's films. "Even if we work hard, Rajinikanth will make a stylish entry and weed out," he said in a circle of friends, as per One India. So, there were reports that he turned down offers. Also, his refusal to play the villain in Shankar's film 'Sivaji' caused a big controversy.
Now Sathyaraj has directly explained the matter. In a recent interview with Galata, he said, “At that time, I was trying to regain my status as a hero. I was in a situation where I needed to make a hit film and restore the market. At that time, I turned down the offer of Shankar's directorial ‘Sivaji,’ thinking that if I played a villain, I would be stuck in the villain role again. But they have said something in the media," he clarified. With this, he has put an end to the rumors that have been circulating for many years.
Amidst these controversies, Sathyaraj's portrayal of Rajinikanth's close friend in the recently released film 'Coolie' greatly impressed the fans. At the film's audio launch, Rajinikanth said that he would pay equal salaries in the film "Sivaji," but Sathyaraj did not act. But now he has acted for me.” The true friendship between the two was revealed. The Rajini-Sathyaraj pairing on screen after a long time was received with great enthusiasm and joy by the fans.
