Following the release of its teaser, actor

Sibiraj

's

Maayon

had sparked a lot of interest due to its intriguing mythological theme. The makers had also released two mesmerising songs composed by

Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja

, which also received a good response from music buffs.

Now, the mystery thriller, directed by Kishore N, has been granted the

U certificate

by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The

CBFC

did not suggest any cuts to the film while granting this certificate, claim its makers. Interestingly, the previous film by this production house — — Mysskin's

Psycho

, starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Nithya Menen and Aditi Rao Hydari — had, in stark contrast, got an A certificate.

Maayon’s story revolves around a few archaeologists visiting a temple for research purposes. What follows is a slew of unexpected incidents that draws them into a fast-paced plot.

Maayon had some time back became the first-ever Indian movie teaser to have an ‘audio description’, to offer a wholesome movie-watching experience to visually challenged individuals. The team is now engaged in coming out with the audio-described version of the film, which will also hit the big screen, and cater to the visually challenged.

Sibiraj plays Arjun, an archaeologist in the film while Tanya Ravichandran, who plays the female lead, will be seen in the role of an epigraphist. This film is set against the backdrop of an ancient temple. The screenplay is written by producer

Arun Mozhi Manickam

.

The makers are planning to announce the release date of the film very soon.
