Suhasini Maniratnam and Chiranjeevi were one of the celebrated on-screen pairs of the 90s. Now, the duo may join hands for the Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, which marked the debut of Prithviraj as director. The film had
Mohanlal in the lead.
It is reported that Suhasini has been offered the role played by Manju Warrier in the original and impressed by the storyline, the actress too has expressed her interest to be part of the movie. Chiranjevi and Suhasini will be playing the roles of siblings in the movie.
The movie’s script is being handled by Sujeeth of
Saaho
fame. It’s said that actress Vijayashanthi was considered initially for the role, and later it went to Suhasini.
Suhasini’s latest films in Tamil were Jiiva-starrer Kee and Atharvaa-starrer
Boomerang
. She is part of James Vasanthan’s
Oh Andha Naatkal
, which is delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown.
The actress has been straddling different film industries in the south Indian languages, and she is part of Priyadarshan’s magnum-opus
Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, a historical epic war film. The release of the film, too, has been postponed due to the theatre shutdown in the wake of corona crisis.
Upon its release, Lucifer, was dubbed in Tamil and released in theatres. It’s also rumoured that the film will be remade in Tamil with Ajith in the lead. However, there is no official communication on it, yet.
