Suriya to join hands with 'Lucky Bhaskar' director Venky Atluri: reports

Actor Suriya is currently busy filming his next project, tentatively titled Suriya 45, directed by RJ Balaji. Now reports of his upcoming film suggest that the Tamil actor is set to work alongside Venky Atluri.

As per a report by Young Matra, the 'Jai Bhim' actor is in talks to collaborate with Venky Atluri, known for directing the recent hit 'Lucky Baskhar' starring Dulquer Salmaan. Reports suggest that this potential project will be backed by a prominent Telugu production company, although discussions are still in the early stages.

'Suriya 45' marks RJ Balaji's first solo directorial venture with a leading actor. The film began production in November 2024, following a ceremonial launch at the Masani Amman Temple in Pollachi. It features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, the pair will be seen together after nearly two decades. The film's cinematography is handled by G.K. Vishnu, known for his work on successful films like 'Jawan' and Mersal.

Initially, AR Rahman was set to compose the music for 'Suriya 45', but he has since been replaced by Sai Abhyankkar. The storyline of 'Suriya 45' remains under wraps, but it is expected to be an action-packed entertainer. Suriya was last seen in 'Kanguva' which despite its initial hype turned out to be heavily struggling at the box office and now is released in the digital space.

Speaking of Venky Atluri, the director's last 'Lucky Bhaskar' is a finance drama film, starring Dulquer which enjoyed an amazing run at the box office earning over Rs 107 crore globally. The movie is now available on the OTT and received a good reception.
