Sushmita Sen's connection with Tamil cinema!

Sushmita Sen became the first Indian to win the Miss Universe in 1994 and she soon made her debut into the filming industry in 1996. Though the actress did not give blockbuster hits right at the beginning of her career, over time she became a Bollywood star and even acted in Tamil films. Recently, Sushmita Sen took to social media to share an update about her personal health. Sharing a picture with her father, she stated that she recently suffered from a heart attack and underwent angioplasty. The actress received a lot of love and strength from her fans and friends for her post. Celebrating the actress's recovery, here are a few times when the Miss Universe had a connection with the Tamil film industry.

Ratchagan

Sushmita Sen played the female lead role in 'Ratchagan'. Directed by Praveen Gandhi, the film was released in 1997 and Nagarjuna played the male lead role . Of a handful of Tamil movies, 'Ratchagan' was one of the movies that became a hit in Tamil Nadu though the lead actors were not solely from the Tamil movie industry. The film marked the debut of Sushmita Sen in Kollywood.

Shakalaka Baby

Sushmita Sen made an appearance in the film 'Mudhalvan' for the song sequence 'Shakalaka Baby'. Composed by AR Rahman, the song was a blockbuster hit. The song was sung by Vasundhara Das and Pravin Mani. The song was an item number and it gaiend the actress a lot of fans in Tamil Nadu.

Acted in the remake of 'Kadhal Kottai'

Sushmita Sen acted in the Hindi film 'Sirf Tum' alongside Sanjay Kapoor in 1999. The film is a remake of the Tamil movie 'Kadhal Kottai' that featured Ajith and Devayani in lead roles. The Hindi film was based on the Tamil film and it made a box office collection of Rs 11 crore.

When Sushmita Sen was compared to Rajinikanth

Actress Sushmita Sen was shooting for her Bollywood film 'Zindagi Rocks' in 2006. According to media reports, the film's set was suddenly invaded by a snake and the actress without making a dramatic scene, knelt before the hissing snake. Reportedly the actress stated that she believe snake to be an incarnation of a goddess and that she considers it an appearance of blessing. For her courageous act, many praised her and compared her to Rajinikanth's role from 'Padayappa' who was also fearless of snakes.
