Varsha Bharath’s Bad Girl won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) 2025. The award is given to the standout feature film from the Asia and Pacific regions. Previously, Arun Karthick’s Nasir won in the category, in 2020.

In her short speech after bagging the award, an elated Varsha Bharath said, “It was such a pleasure showcasing my film here.” The director remarked that she didn’t prepare a speech and added, “I didn’t have it prepared as I didn’t want to disappoint myself later.”

Sharing her delight exclusively with us, actress Shanthi Priya, who is with the team at Rotterdam, said, “This film has been an emotional journey for me, and receiving the NETPAC Award at IFFR is truly special. It’s a testament to the passion and hard work of our incredible team. More than the award, what truly moves me is how the story has resonated with audiences.
