Telugu actor Krishna passes away: Tamil films that were remade by the veteran actor
Veteran Telugu actor Krishna passed away on November 15 morning, aged 79. Father of actor Mahesh Babu, Krishna was admitted to the hospital on Monday, and breathed his last today. Krishna has acted in over 300 films, while a few of them are remade from superhit Tamil films. Take a look at five Tamil films that were remade in Telugu by the veteran actor.

'Kai Kodutha Deivam' - 'Marapuranai Katha'
Directed by KS Gopalakrishnan, 'Kai Kodutha Deivam' starring Sivaji Ganesan and Savitri in lead roles, revolves around two friends. The 1964 Tamil release was a huge hit and the film was remade in multiple languages. Krishna opted to play the lead role in the Telugu remake titled 'Marapuranai Katha'. The remake was released in 1967, while Vanisri played the female lead.

'Naan' - 'Nenate Nene'
The 1967 Tamil film 'Naan' features Ravichandran, Jayalalithaa, Muthuraman, and Nagesh in lead roles, and the film, which was directed by TR Ramana had a successful theatrical run of over 175 days. This made the film grab attention, and Krishna played the lead role in the Telugu remake of 'Naan' titled 'Nenate Nene'. The masala film was released a year later in Telugu, and the remake was also commercially successful.

'Puguntha Veedu' - 'Puttinillu Mettinillu'
The 1972 Tamil film 'Puguntha Veedu' features AVM Rajan and Chandrakala in lead roles, and the family drama received a great response. Owing to the success in Tamil, 'Puguntha Veedu' was remade in Telugu as 'Puttinillu Mettinillu'. Directed by Pattu, Krishna reprised AVM Rajan's role in the remake, while Sobhan Babu, Lakshmi, and Chandrakala played important roles.

'Padikkadha Medhai' - 'Indra Bhavanam'
Directed by Bhimsingh, the 1960 Tamil film 'Padikkadha Medhai' features Sivaji Ganesan, SV Ranga Rao, Kannamba, and Sowcar Janaki in main roles. The film is follows a loyal and faithful servant, and it was remade by Krishna as 'Indra Bhavanam' in 1991. It was another successful Tamil-to-Telugu remake for Krishna, and he also did the screenplay for the remake.
