With the Pongal festival just around the corner, the producers of
Jiiva’s new entertaining film ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil’ have released its trailer, creating new excitement for its release on January 15. The trailer has given a humorous outlook into the movie, intended as an entertaining political satire. Being a festival release, the film is expected to benefit the most from that and the funny content.
Jiiva plays a small-time politician
The trailer introduces us to Jiiva as Thalaivar Thambi, a low-level political figure whose name is not referred to. By means of amusing reflecting glimpses, it is implied that the narrative features electoral strategists and a wedding. The focus appears to be on the mix between politics and chaos, including conflicts, alliances, and a mob mind, that this film suggests driving the plot. However, it’s fun and largely comical in its application of politics.
'Falimy' director Nithish Sahadev makes Tamil debut
'Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil' is the Tamil debut film by Nithish Sahadev, who made his directorial debut with the 2023 Malayalam film 'Falimy.' It also marks his return to the director’s chair after a gap, this time bringing his acclaimed slice-of-life style with him. The film is written by Nithish along with Sanjo Joseph and Anuraj OB, who also plays a role in the film. The cast also includes Thambi Ramaiah, Prathana Nathan, Ilavarasu, Jenson Dhivakar, Sarjin Kumar, Jaiwanth, Rajesh Pandian, Amith Mohan, Subash Kannan, Sharath, Savithri, and several others.
Strong technical team backs film
On the technical side, ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil’ brings together the same team of cinematographer Bablu Aju, music composer Vishnu Vijay and editor Arjune Babu that worked on the film ‘Falimy’ with additional dialogues by Vijayakumar Solaimuthu. Jiiva’s upcoming filmography includes ‘Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan’, a project reuniting him with director M. Rajesh (Siva Manasula Sakthi, 2009) and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. There’s also the expected box- office competition between ‘Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil’ and Mohan G’s ‘Draupathi 2’.
