Thalapathy Vijay, who packed a punch by delivering Bigil (his career-biggest grosser), is now the only Tamil actor to have three films in the
250 crore club
, that too in three consecutive years. Vijay’s previous films, Mersal and Sarkar crossed this landmark with Rs 250 core within the days. And, he has become the first Tamil actor to score a hat-trick of Rs 125 crore in Tamil Nadu too.
It was Bigil that had hit the marquee on October 25 to positive reviews. Vijay played a talented football player-turned-a rowdy working for public welfare in a Chennai slum in it. Bigil, directed by
Atlee Kumar, has a notable line-up for stars in the cast including Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Vivek, Daniel Balaji, Anandraj, Yogi Babu, Devadarshini, and among others.
Well-known cinematographer GK Vishnu cranked the camera for this venture with
AR Rahman
composing the tunes and Ruben taking charge at the editing table. Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh bankrolled it under the banner
