The narrative of Vaazhl will be musical: Arun Prabu

The director's Vaazhl will be a mixed genre film
The first look and tease of

Vaazhl

, directed by

Arun Prabu

(of

Aruvi

fame), seem to have impressed the audience, with many asking the director where he shot the film and to what genre it belongs . When we asked Arun about it, he quipped, “It’s a travel comedy crime adventure socio-political human-centric

musical

drama, but you can take it however you wish to. The film’s narrative is musical – there are several songs in it as well and they have come out so beautifully. There’s crime if you are looking for crime, there’s adventure if you want one, and there’s also a socio-political angle. While Aruvi was a socio-political film predominantly, I have explored various elements in this one. So, it’s a mixed genre film, and everyone will enjoy all the aspects of it."

We’d recently reported that Arun had shot a portion of the film using a film camera. “We’ve used different cameras to suit the screenplay. And for a small portion, which is set in the 1930s, we’ve used a film camera,” he had told us, “Recce for the locations alone took us nine months. When we write the script, we describe how the waterfalls should be and how the roads wind. But appadi endha naatula irukko, onnum puriyala! We finally shot in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, and also at several islands in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. They were relatively newer destinations and we did find a waterfall that suited our description, the locals said it doesn’t have a name and we could christen it!”

The film, produced by Sivakarthikeyan, stars Pradeep Antony, TJ Bhanu, Diva Dhawan, Aahrav and Bhat among others.
