Mahalakshmi, the female lead in director Jnanaseelan's Ezhaam Suryan, is someone to watch out for.
The Plus I student, who romances young star Unni Mukundan in the upcoming flick, is happy to act with the hero whom she believes is the "next big thing" in the Malayalam film industry.
"This is my third film and the first one with Unni. He is definitely waiting in the wings to make it big. On and off the sets, he is a very down-to-earth and co-operative person," says the actress, who plays the role of Gopika, a 20-year-old who shoulders the responsibility of the family and struggles to make ends meet. "Gopika is a village girl and a feminist of sorts, who believes there is no reason why
women should stay a step behind men. My character fights with Unni's all through, until the two finally fall in love,"" Mahalakshmi explains. The film will be released on March 24.The actress stepped into tinseltown with the yet-to-be-released Female Unnikrishnan from the world of television soaps. "In Female Unnikrishnan, I play a singer who loses her voice and her struggles from thereon. My second outing, Dr Biju Lal's directorial, Nadabrahmam, gave me scope to stage my dancing skills," says the actress who has been a regular at youth festivals with her dance and monoact numbers. Kaushik Babu is the hero of the film.Mahalakshmi has been signed on for director Anil Babu's next in which she teams up with Jayaram.
