Vadivelu, Preethi Asrani, and Vetri Maaran bag awards at the Chennai International Film Festival
The 2023 Chennai International Film Festival which began on December 14 in Chennai came to an end yesterday (Dec 21). It is noteworthy that 12 Tamil films were screened in the competition section along with multiple films from other languages were screened during the film festival that lasted for a week. Now, here are the winners of the Chennai International Film Festival 2023. 'Ayothi' and 'Udanpaal' have bagged the Best Film awards at the Chennai International Film Festival 2023, while Vadivelu and Preethi Asrani bagged the Best Actor and Best Actress awards respectively for their roles in the respective films 'Maamannan' and 'Ayothi'. 'Ayothi' director Manthira Moorthy and the film's producer have been awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each. Whereas, Vadivelu and Preethi Asrani have been awarded Rs 50,000 each for bagging the best actor and actress awards.
Special Jury Award was announced to director Vethimaran for the first part of 'Viduthalai', which was released in theatres last March. Kalaichelvan Sivaji, the cinematographer of 'Por Thozhlil', was chosen as the Best Cinematographer, while the film's editor Srijith Sarang was awarded as the Best Editor. Suren was selected as the Best Sound Editor for his work in 'Maamannan', and Directed by Bhagawath, 'Last Heart' was selected as the best short film, while there were also several awards presented for other language films as well.
