'Vanangaan' producer Suresh Kamatchi slams 'Vidaamuyarchi' makers for postponing the Pongal release

Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' and Arun Vijay's 'Vanangaan' were the two Tamil films that were initially locked to release this Pongal 2025. However, Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' stepped out from the clash with just 10 days ahead of the release, and the postponement of the Ajith starrer has sparked discussions among fans and industry insiders about its impact on the competitive Pongal box office race. Now, 'Vanangaan' producer Suresh Kamatchi has criticized the makers of Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' for delaying its release, initially planned for Pongal.

In an interview with CineUlagam, Suresh Kamatachi expressed disappointment, citing how the last-minute decision of 'Vidaamuyarchi' makers disrupted the festival season lineup and affected audience expectations. According to Suresh Kamatchi, if the postponement of 'Vidaamuyarchi' was announced well before it would have allowed other films to have a better Pongal since it's an extended holiday weekend. But the last-minute delay has made producers face a struggle in having a wide release. So, Suresh Kamatachi blamed 'Vidaamuyarchi' makers for their postponement.

To fill in the place of Ajith's 'Vidaamuyarchi' more than 8 Tamil films other than Arun Vijay's 'Vanangaan' have been announced to release for the occasion of Pongal. Vishal's long-delayed 'Madha Gaja Raja', Jayam Ravi's 'Kadhalikka Neramillai', and Vishnuvardhan's 'Nesipaya' are the ones that joined the 2025 Pongal race, and it's going to be a busy festival for fans and exhibitors.

Directed by Bala, 'Vanangaan' features Arun Vijay in the lead role, and he plays a character with both emotional depth and action-oriented traits. Roshni Prakash, Samuthirakani, John Vijay, Mysskin, Radha Ravi, Ridha, and Chhaya Devi play crucial roles, and the film has songs composed by GV Prakash Kumar and the background score is taken care of by Sam CS.
