On the other hand, Ganesan made his Hindi debut with Shortcut Romeo (2013), the remake of his Tamil film, Thiruttu Payale (2006). It starred Neil Nitin Mukesh, Puja Gupta and Ameesha Patel. His second film is once again said to be a remake of his Tamil film, Thiruttu Payale 2 (2017), a crime thriller, which starred Prasanna, Bobby Simha and Amala Paul. The film will be predominantly shot in Varanasi and Lucknow. The rest of the star cast is expected to be finalised soon and the shoot will begin after Deepavali. Interestingly, Thiruttu Payale 2 is also being remade in Kannada as 100, which will be directed by Ramesh Aravind.

Susi Ganesan's name recently came up in the #MeToo controversy when writer and filmmaker Leena Manimekalai accused him of sexual misconduct. While actors Amala Paul and Siddharth expressed their support for the writer, Ganesan went on to file a defamation case against Leena.
