Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan, a political action thriller directed by H. Vinoth, faced a dramatic postponement of its worldwide release, originally set for January 9, 2026, after makers shared an official statement that the film film delayed due to “unavoidable circumstances beyond our control.”The postponement stems primarily from delays in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), despite the board viewing the film on December 19, 2025.This last-minute decision has left fans devastated, as the movie marks Vijay's final big-screen appearance before he fully transitions into politics with his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party.After hearing the arguments on Wednesday, the court said that the verdict will be announced only on January 9. This is the same day the film was planned to release on 5,000 screens worldwide. The court was informed that the CBFC certificate was stopped because one member of the examining committee raised an objection and sent a complaint to the CBFC chairman. The other four members suggested that the film should get a U/A 16+ certificate. The member who objected said their concerns were not properly considered. Because of this, the film was sent to the revising committee.
