Visu’s award-winning film, Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, is all set to get a sequel. While the story has already been penned by the late artiste, the film will be directed by Bhaskarraj. The team is presently finalizing the cast and crew, and is also in talks with Rajkiran for an important role.
Samsaram Adhu Minsaram revolved around the members of a joint family and the efforts made by the eldest daughter-in-law to keep them together.
While Visu, apart from writing and directing the film, played the patriarch of the family, while
Lakshmi did the role of the eldest daughter-in-law. The movie had Raghuvaran, Chandrasekhar, Kishmu, Delhi Ganesh, Ilavarasi,
Manorama, Madhuri, Kamala Kamesh, Dilip and Haja Sheriff, among others, in important roles. The movie stressed on the importance of family values and was appreciated by both critics and audience. It went on to win several awards, and was the first Tamil film to bring home the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It was also remade in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Now, the family entertainer is getting a sequel.
A source says, “Samsaram Adhu Minsaram’s sequel is the last film for which Visu had written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Visu’s daughter Lavanya is assisting as the dialogue writer. While AVM backed the first project, this one is being produced by Raja of Makkal Arasan Pictures, who’s already making Arjun and Jiiva’s Medhavi, Vimal’s Engal Pattan Soththu and Vidaarth and Yogi Babu’s Ulaga Maha Utthamargal. Baradwaj has been roped in as the composer, while Pa Vijay is writing the lyrics. Cinematographer Rajavel Mohan and editor Suresh Urs are also part of the crew.”
Bhaskarraj, who has assisted Visu, says, “This film can be enjoyed by kids, youngsters and elders. It has the capacity to bring people to theatres. Idhu innoru veetil minsaramaga iyangum samsarathin kadhai.”
