Vivekh hospitalised after he suffers cardiac arrest

in Chennai on Friday morning due to cardiac arrest, leaving his fans and colleagues in the industry in a state of shock. A source says, “The actor was unconscious when he was taken to the hospital. He is under observation in the cath lab with ECMO support. He has undergone

angioplasty

because of a block in the heart.”

According to sources, Vivekh, who was busy shooting for the yet-to-be-titled project along with

Legend Saravanan

, felt uneasy while he was at his home on Friday, after which he was rushed to the hospital. The hospital authorities released a statement on Friday evening in which they said that the actor was in a critical condition. The statement read, “Vivekh was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by 11am today to the emergency by the family members. He was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists. Later he underwent Emergency Coronary Angiogram followed by Angioplasty. He is currently in critical condition on ECMO in the Intensive Care Unit.”

On Thursday, Vivekh had taken the first dose of vaccination for COVID-19 and had urged everyone to do the same as a safety measure during the pandemic. Hospital authorities have clarified that the cardiac arrest may not be due to the

vaccine

. “This is an acute coronary syndrome with cardiogenic shock. This is a separate cardiac event. It may not be due to COVID vaccination,” read the statement.

Doctors in the hospital, too, have clarified that the cardiac arrest was due to a 100% block in the blood vessel, and not because of the vaccine.
