The 2016 Tamil romantic action film ‘Wagah’, starring Vikram Prabhu and Ranya Rao, is now available for streaming.
Directed by G. N. R. Kumaravelan, Wagah follows the story of an Indian soldier stationed at the highly sensitive border region. His life takes a dramatic turn when he attempts to escort his Pakistani girlfriend back home, only to be captured by Pakistani soldiers. The film blends romance with high-stakes action, making it an engaging watch for fans of the genre.
Apart from Vikram Prabhu and Ranya Rao, the movie features actors like Shaji Chaudhary, Karunas, Sathyan, Rajendran, Raj Kapoor, and Tulasi in key roles. The film was bankrolled by M. Balavishwaanathan, with music composed by D. Imman. The movie can be watched for free on YouTube and is also available on JioHotstar with its Hindi dub.
ETimes review for ‘Wagah’ We gave the film a rating of 1.5 star out of 5 and our review reads, “What we get are mainly corny lines like how fences between nations cannot stop the wind from blowing from one side to the other, and how one country’s destruction will not result in the development of another. But with no proper set-ups, they end up as being unintentionally funny. The Kumaravelan who gave us Haridas would have latched on to such moments and underscored the bitter irony of how a person, who is from a place 3000km away is accepted in Kashmir, while another, who lives a mere 20km from her grandfather’s home, is told that she doesn’t belong there.”
Meanwhile, Ranya Rao recently made headlines after being arrested at the Bengaluru International Airport on March 3 for allegedly attempting to smuggle 14.2 kg of gold while returning from Dubai. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has indicated that she was part of a larger smuggling syndicate.
