Wamiqa plays a wrestler in a Malayalam film

After debuting in Tamil as an urban girl Manoja in Gitanjali Selvaraghavan���s Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam, Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi is set to enter Mollywood with Basil Joseph���s next project Godha. She will be seen as a wrestler in this sports comedy, which is based on the game gusthi (wrestling).

Basil reveals that Wamiqa will play a Punjabi girl, Adithi. ���Interestingly, she will also be doing a full-fledged gusthi sequence.��� The director and his team have been travelling across Kerala and Punjab to research on the game. ���Gusthi was once considered a prestigious game and there were even parents who wanted their daughters to get married to phayalvans (wrestlers). But now the game has lost its glory,��� he says, adding, ���The film will explore the intricacies of the game, its history and its current relevance. The story will be told through a guy who wants to master the game in the contemporary scenario.��� Basil also adds that Wamiqa will learn the sports from a gusthi expert in her home town, Punjab.
