Superstar Rajinikanth, who has been in the Tamil film industry for almost four decades has done numerous film for the popular production house AVM since the 80s. Among the other superhit films he had delivered for AVM is also 'Yejaman' in 1993 directed by RV Udayakumar. The film has Rajinikanth and Meena playing the lead roles with Napoleon playing the villain.
As part of a trivia about their production house AVM, the popular production house has shared an interesting insight on how a fan's letter after watching the film boosted the box office collections tremendously of the film 'Yejaman'.
Sharing the hand written letter, AVM productions posted, "A letter for #Yejaman. In the 80's movie reviews from the public were rare and few. So, Shri M. Saravanan decided to ask people to send their reviews about #Yejaman by post. While a lot of letters came with so much for the film, one stood out."
Adding on, they wrote, "A young lady said that she had watched the movie and liked it a lot. She had also said 'If I find a partner like Vanavarayar, I will get married immediately.' The AVM publicity team had wanted to use this for promotions, but couldn't do so without the sender's consent. When they travelled to her hometown and requested her, she initially refused fearing her father's reaction. But to their surprise, the lady's father not only gave his consent but also gave her a photograph to go with it. This letter triggered more responses. Even men wrote saying 'If I find a girl like Vaitheeswari, even I will get married'. These feedback letters boosted the box office collections tremendously as the crowd kept coming back to watch the lead couple again and again. Such is the power of true fans' feedback!"
While his first film with the production house was 'Murattu Kalai' in 1980 with director SP Muthuraman, he later on did films like Pokkiri Raja, Paayum Puli, Nallavanuku Nallavan, Mr. Bharath, Manithan, Raja Chinna Roja, Ejamaan, and 'Sivaji'.
