When Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan admitted that Dhanush played cupid for their love: 'We got involved within a year'
Nayanthara recently wrote an open letter addressing actor Dhanush, accusing him of attempting to delay the release of her documentary ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’. The dispute revolves around the use of footage from the 2015 film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ in the documentary, which led Dhanush to send a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore for the unauthorized use.
In the midst of this, an old interview featuring Nayanthara and Vignesh has resurfaced online, where the couple shared how Dhanush indirectly influenced their love story.
Nayanthara’s husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, told Hello! India that Dhanush made him narrate the story of ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’ to Nayanthara, and she liked it. After Nayanthara agreed to the film, Vijay Sethupathi, who had initially declined, also accepted the script.
“The movie paved the way for me to spend a lot of time around her. We got involved within a year,” Vignesh revealed.
Nayanthara’s recent letter stated that Dhanush did not give an NOC (No Objection Certificate) to use a 3-second behind-the-scenes clip from his production venture ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’. He had asked her team to remove the clip from the trailer of her documentary two years ago.
“What's even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot on our personal devices and, that too, BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media, and claimed a sum of Rs. 10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all-time low from you and speaks volumes about your character,” Nayanthara wrote.
As per reports, Dhanush’s legal team has now filed a civil suit against Nayanthara, accusing her of using the footage without consent. According to The Hindu, Dhanush’s legal team approached the Madras High Court to file the case against Nayanthara and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.
‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’, which was released on Netflix on November 18, provides an intimate glimpse into Nayanthara’s journey and personal life.
On the work front, Dhanush is all set for his next film 'Kubera', after the success of 'Raayan'. 'Kubera' is directed by Sekhar Kammula and along with Dhanush, the movie also features the actors Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Jim Sarbh and many others in pivotal lead roles. 'Kubera's script is penned by Sekhar Kammula and Chaithanya Pingali and the expectations are high for the movie.
