During a television interview in 2013, Dhanush, the producer of 'Ethir Neechal' praised Nayanthara for her contribution to the film. Featuring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, 'Ethir Neechal' had a special number performed by Nayanthara. But Nayanthara didn't charge any remuneration for her special appearance in 'Ethir Neechal' as she considers Dhanush as her friend, and she didn't charge money from her friends.

Dhanush has filed a petition at the court demanding Rs 10 crore from Nayanthara as her wedding documentary 'Beyond The Fairytale' is streaming for money on a popular digital platform, and it was also sold for a whopping price to the digital platform. But Nayanthara took to social media to mock Dhanush through an open letter and it garnered a spotlight among their fans and public.

Both Dhanush and Nayanthara receive support and trolls over their dispute on the 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' BTS video in 'Beyond The Fairytale'. It is worth mentioning that Nayanthara fell in love with Vignesh Shivan while working with the director for 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan', and they got married in 2022.
