5 celeb breakups that made headlines

The news that is taking the entire Tamil film industry by a storm is the breakup of Kamal Haasan with his partner Gautami. The veteran actress had released a long statement explaining reasons for the painful split. Of course everybody is in a state of utter shock, but this celeb breakup does take us back to other times when famous celebs and their partners went parted ways, and some are not on very good terms.

This split is of course extremely recent and came out of the blue. Kamal had been living in happily with Gautami for almost 13 years now and it seemed like after two marriages and divorces, the Ulaganayagan had finally found a steady partner. However, it seems like this, too, was not meant to be permanent. While the veteran actress did not disclose the exact reason for their separation, it was extremely sudden and surprising nonetheless. The break-up has set tongues wagging and it is only a matter of time before people start blaming one party or the other for it.

Trisha-Varun Manian

Trisha and industrialist Varun Manian were engaged for a while and things were getting quite serious. But then, all of a sudden, Trisha and her beau called off their engagement. While the entire film industry reeled under shock, many theories cropped up about the reason for their split. One of the most famous ones was that Varun did not want Trisha to continue her acting career post marriage. Of course, feminists around the country had a field day with it, but nothing was confirmed. There was even a theory that Dhanush was the reason for their split as Varun despised him but Trisha considered Dhanush to be her good friend. However, the estranged couple maintained a stoic silence about the whole affair.

Prabhudheva-Nayanthara

Another drama-filled relationship and an equally big break-up was that of actor-turned-director, Prabhu Dheva, and actress, Nayanthara. Apparently, the two started dating on the sets of ‘Villu’ back in 2009. The catch was that Prabhu was already married to Latha and this made things infinitely more complicated for the two. Eventually, he got a divorce and marriage talks with Nayanthara were on in full swing, but it seems that Prabhu was reluctant to announce a formal date and the actress, who was jeopardising her career with this relationship, decided to break it off. At least that is what the tabloids report.

This one has to be the winner in terms of most explosive and worse fallout between celeb couples. It all began during the shooting of ‘Vallavan’ in 2006 when the two co-stars apparently fell for each other. However, this high-profile relationship lasted only a few months and after the film’s release, the two went their separate ways. However, that was only the beginning of nasty fallout between the two. According to reports, STR leaked intimate pictures of him kissing Nayanthara as a way to get back at her. This created a huge uproar in media circles and it widened the rift between the two, which took many years to mend.

Anirudh and Andrea made for a really interesting pair. The reason was that Anirudh was much younger than the Anglo-Indian actress. The famous music composer was 22 and she was 27 when pictures of them smooching surfaced online, stirring up a storm. Even in the film industry, such a relationship was unheard of and many held Andrea responsible for coercing with Anirudh as she was the older one. Then the actress silenced the rumours once and for all when she came out and confessed that she was intimate with Anirudh and it was a beautiful bond, but that they had decided to split.
