Devi Sri Prasad: Six best compositions of the music director

An ocean of talent, Devi Sri Prasad, was born on August 2, 1979, Vedurupaka, East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of famous Tollywood writer G Sathyamurthy. Composing music for over 80 films, he is considered one of the capable music directors of Tollywood. At a young age, he was already composing music for films.

On the occasion of his 39th birthday, let’s take a look at some of his best compositions from Tollywood.

2/7

Anandam

Released in 2001, ‘Anandam’ is the third film of Devi Sri Prasad as a music composer. He was applauded for delivering such a soothing soundtrack for the film. There are six songs in the film including ‘Anandam’, ‘Kanulu Terichinna’, ‘Monalisa’, ‘Evarina Epudaina’, ‘Oka Merupu’ and ‘Premante Emitante’. He not only delivered the music for the film but also crooned songs and 'Premante Emitante' was crooned and penned by himself.

3/7

Kalusukovalani

Devi Sri Prasad had created some miraculous tunes for this Uday Kiran starrer. His music played a major role in the film’s success. As per some sources, he used a variety of objects to create different effects for the songs. There were eight songs in the film and Devi Sri Prasad had lent his voice for the song ‘Udayinchina’, which is still played for its freshness. Interestingly, the song was sung by Devi himself. Rest of the songs include ‘Pade Pade’, ‘Oke Okka Kshanam’, ‘Tala Talamani’, ‘Cheliya Cheliya’, and ‘Akasam’ which were also quite memorable.

4/7

Manmadhudu

Before the release of the film, people somewhat were confused by the title of this film. But it cleared off all the cookies in the minds of the people and stood at the forefront of romantic love stories. The Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer is apparently regarded as one of the best films in his career. Devi Sri Prasad had composed music for this flick and he once again proved his mettle in striking effects in the music. He delivered evergreen songs such as ‘Don’t Marry’, ‘Gundello Emundho’, ‘Nenu Nenuga Lene’, ‘Na Manasune’, and ‘Cheliya’. Devi Sri rendered his vocals for the song ‘Andamaina Bhamalu’.

5/7

Varsham

Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, all the songs became huge hits and listeners had never heard such renditions before. His younger brother Sagar had given his vocals for a haunting melody ‘Neeti Mullai'. The fast-paced ‘Nuvvosthanate’ was a big hit and soon it was on everyone's lips. After the release of the film, youngsters loved to dance on this song and it became a favourite for every budding bathroom singer.

6/7

Arya

The songs in the film are just mind-blowing and captured the true essence of Devi Sri Prasad. There are six songs in the film such as ‘You Rock my World’, ‘Nuvvunte’, ‘O My Brotheru’, ‘Thakadimithom’, ‘Feel My Love’ and ‘Aa Ante’ and each song is fresh and wonderful. Malathi’s vocals made ‘Aa Ante’ a nationwide chartbuster overnight. He then started creating such kind of special numbers in films almost usually since then.

7/7

Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana

Devi Sri Prasad brought out the eclectic tunes from his genius musical mind for this flick starring Siddharth and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles. The music album featured eight songs composed by Devi Sri and all songs are sweet and powerful. Each song in the movie is an unearthed gem--‘Chandrulo Unde’, ‘Something Something’, ‘Niluvaddamu’, ‘Paripoke Pitta’, ‘Ghal Ghal’, ‘Padam Kadalanantunda’ and ‘Adhire Adhire’. This film’s success cemented him in the industry to compose more good tunes.
