'C/o Kancharapalem' box office collections day 1: Venkatesh Maha's film rakes in $36,000 on its opening day in the US

The film, that is presented by Rana Daggubati, under the Suresh Productions banner, even made its way to the

New York Indian Film Festival

before it released on September 7. Phanindra Narsetti’s ‘Manu’ and Allari Naresh and Sunil’s ‘

Silly Fellows

’ too released on the same date but received mixed to lukewarm reviews. Maha’s film on the other hand received good reviews even after its release.

Now reports state that the film had stupendous openings in the US, raking in $36,000 (Rs 25 lakh) at the

box office

. Reportedly, the film also raked Rs 3.5 lakh in Hyderabad alone. Official confirmation on the numbers is awaited. With the kind of response the film has gotten, business is expected to pick up over the weekend. The film even holds a 9.5/10 rating on IMDB at the time of writing.

Shot in the Kancharapalem area of Visakhapatnam with 80 locals, the film charts the journey of three men of different ages and a boy, and the kind of love they experience in their lives. The film features refreshing music by Sweekar Agasthi that was received well too. It remains to be seen how the film will fare in the coming days.
