The movie also features a stellar cast including Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukhundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, and Brahmanandam.
Early reactionsEarly reviews of 'Kannappa' have been mixed but generally positive. The audience applauds Vishnu Manchu's sincere and committed performance, especially his emotional transformation arc.
Prabhas's cameo as Rudra was widely appreciated for injecting energy and wisdom, elevating the film's second half. Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal made brief but impactful appearances, while Mohan Babu and Mohanlal also contributed strong performances. Although the film's pacing, particularly in the first half, drew criticism for being slow and lacking engagement, several netizens on the internet praise the last 40 minutes of the film as truly impactful.
During the film's release, Prabhas on his Instagram stories wrote, "#Kannappa arrives on the big screen. The epic tale of a man who gave more than his life, He gave his vision and his soul. Kannappa is now playing - witness divine surrender."
Recently In a press conference held in Hyderabad, Vishnu Manchu made a shared about the post-production decisions taken during the making of 'Kannappa'. As reported by Hindustan Times, Vishnu admitted that he, director Mukesh Kumar Singh, and editor Anthony had to make the difficult call to remove several well-executed scenes because the VFX did not meet their quality expectations. Kannappa ends on a powerful note that resonates with devotees and admirers of culturally rooted cinema."
Vishnu Manchu's mythological epic 'Kannappa', had also fallen victim to piracy just days after its theatrical debut. The actor took to social media to share an emotional message, revealing that over 30,000 illegal links to the film have already been taken down. Calling the situation "heartbreaking," Vishnu asked fans and movie lovers not to encourage piracy, stating that "Piracy is theft — plain and simple. We don't teach our children to steal. Watching pirated content is no different. Please don’t encourage it. Support cinema the right way. Har Har Mahadev."
