Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj mints nearly Rs 75 crore in 7 days

While everyone was expecting Ram Charan and Shankar’s combination with Game Changer to set tone at box office for the new year, however it is Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaj which is enjoying a bigger run at the box office.

Released on Sunday to cash in on the festival on Pongal, the film survived mixed to negative reviews to set the cash registers ringing. The film opened to Rs 25.35 crore which was a Sunday, and stayed steady till the festival of Pongal which was on Tuesday, minting Rs 12.8 on Monday and Rs 12.25 on Tuesday. Since then, the film’s collection has been declining, as it earned Rs 9.75 on Wednesday and Rs 6.25 on Thursday. On Friday, the film collected Rs 4.2 crore and as per early estimates by Sacnilk, it earned Rs 4 crore on Saturday, thereby taking the 7 day collection of the film to Rs 74.60 crore.The film has been pegged at the budget of Rs 100 crore, and going by the trends, it might just fall short of it by the time it ends its box office run. But the makers might be able to turn a profit but selling non-theatrical rights like satellite and digital.


The film is currently facing competition not only from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, but also from Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which has minted Rs 93.75 crore in just 5 days.

Daaku Maharaj is a story of a daring robber striving for survival, and establishing his own territory, while fighting with powerful adversaries. The film also features actor Bobby Deol as the antagonist.

The film was recently in the news for its song Dabidi Dabidi, that featured NBK and Urvashi Rautela. Social media went a buzz over the choreography of the song, and taking to X, Urvashi wrote , “ It’s ironic how some who’ve achieved nothing feel entitled to criticize those who work tirelessly. Real power isn’t in tearing others down, it's in lifting them up and inspiring greatness.”
