NOTA box office collections day 1: Vijay Deverakonda starrer collects Rs 7.35 Cr worldwide
Vijay Deverakonda’s Tamil debut ‘
The film that also stars Mehreen Pirzada, Nasser and Sathyaraj has raked in Rs 7.35 Cr worldwide on its opening day, with a gross of Rs 14 Cr, according to Andhra Box Office. While the line was clear for the film’s release in Telugu, it clashed with ‘96’ and still reportedly managed to hold its own in Tamil. Despite the mixed reviews the film has been getting from audience and critics alike, here’s how the film is faring at the box office:
The figures above include both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film. Reportedly, the film stands at a theatrical value of Rs 25 Cr. The digital rights of the film have also been sold and needs to make a minimum of its theatrical value to be declared a hit, say trade experts.
‘NOTA’ charts the journey of a London-bred Varun (Vijay Deverakonda) made a CM in lieu of his father (Nasser) who faces corruption charges. While he’s initially told the stint will only be for 2 weeks, he soon finds himself in the chair for longer than anticipated. How he begins to take his job seriously with the help of his mentor (Sathyaraj) is what the film is all about. While the film does touch several political issues that plague Tamil Nadu and the country in general, due to the time of its release, comparisons with Koratala Siva and Mahesh Babu’s ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ are inevitable. It remains to be seen how the film will fare.
