Naga Chaitanya's film collects Rs 1 crore; inches closer to Rs 60 crore mark

Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer 'Thandel' is having an impactful run at the box office. The movie, directed by Chandoo Mondeti has been well-received since its release on February 7, 2025. On its 11th day it made over Rs 1 crore in India.

The film's performance in India has been notable, with Sacnilk estimating that it earned Rs 57.19 Cr net in its first 10 days. Early estimates for day 11 suggest an additional Rs 1 crore, bringing the total to Rs 58.05 crore. The film has achieved a global collection of over Rs 100 crore.

The film has seen consistent audience turnout, maintaining a 15.66% Telugu occupancy on its 11th day, Monday, February 17, 2025. Occupancy levels remained relatively stable throughout the day, with morning shows at 14.85%, afternoon shows at 16.23%, evening shows at 15.93%, and night shows at 15.61%.

'Thandel' began strongly, earning Rs 11.5 crore on its opening day and showing good momentum through its first weekend with collections of Rs 12.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 12.75 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, the film had grossed Rs 49.4 crore. While it experienced a decline in collections after the opening weekend, there was an increase on its second Saturday, with earnings of Rs 2.4 crore.

Upon its release, 'Thandel' received mixed reviews from fans. However, many praised the performances of Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, along with the film's visuals and music composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

The film is a romantic action thriller inspired by real events that occurred in 2018. It stars Naga Chaitanya as Raju, a fisherman, and Sai Pallavi as Satyabhama, his love interest. Set against the backdrop of a coastal fishing village in Srikakulam district, the story revolves around the struggles of fishermen who rely on the sea for their livelihood.
