Kathanam movie review highlights: Anasuya's film is a dreary ride

' is a thriller which sees Anasuya Bharadwaj in the lead role.

Anu (Anasuya Bharadwaj) is an assistant director with Maruthi who is looking for that big break in the industry. Her best friend Dhana (

Dhanaraj

) too is looking to make it as an actor who gets to do varied roles instead of the side roles he does. She writes a story and three murders in real life mirror her script. She also finds herself in a peculiar situation right before the interval.

CK (Vennela Kishore) is a writer Dhana brings on-board to help Anu. But in the first half, way too much time is spent on dank jokes featuring him that slow the film down considerably. Not to mention the extra loud RR and bad VFX that take the attention away from a tale that already seems like a dreary ghost of the 2005 mystery drama 'A Film by Aravind' in some ways.

It remains to be seen if the film picks up pace in the second half or if the film's story will have any surprises packed.
