6 Interesting facts about Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Samantha that you should know

Ever since Samantha Akkineni has changed her social profile name to ‘S’, there have been a lot of speculations about her personal and professional life. Reports are also rife that all is not well in Naga Chaitanya, and Samantha's marital paradise. Though nothing official has come from either side so far, let’s have a look at some interesting facts about the most celebrated couple of Tollywood.

Yem Maaya Chesave brought them together

Though Naga Chaitanya made his film debut with ‘Josh (2009)’ it was his second film with Gautham Menon titled ‘Ye Maaya Chesave (2010)’ that brought him to the limelight as the film had several beautiful elements such as AR Rahman’s music, Gautham Menon’s direction, lavish production value, and it was Samantha’s acting debut in Telugu. Her background of Telugu father and Malayali mother got good attention from the Telugu people. This was the first film where the couple shared the screen space for the first time.

4 movies with Chay and 3 movies with Nag

After ‘Yem Maya Chesave’ in 2010, the duo came together for their family fantasy film titled ‘Manam’ in 2014, which starred three-generation of Akkineni heroes ANR, Nagarjuna, and Naga Chaitanya. It is very rare to see three-generation heroes in one movie in Tollywood. The same year they both starred in ‘Autonagar Surya’, which got mixed responses from the audience. Then they joined hands once again for the 2019 romantic sports drama titled ‘Majili’ directed by Shiva Nirvana.

In the 2019 film ‘Oh! Baby’, Samantha played the titular role, and Naga Chaitanya did a cameo in the film that was a fantasy comedy about a woman in her 70s (Lakshmi) who magically finds herself in the body of her 24-year-old self (Samantha) after having her picture taken at a mysterious photo studio. The film was directed by BV Nandini Reddy and the film was well-received. Samantha also has worked with her father-in-law (Nagarjuna) in three movies in Manam 2014, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 (2018), Manmadhudu 2 in 2019.

Similarities between the Superhit acting couple

They also share lots of similarities. As ‘Yem Maya Chesave’ is the second film for both and both rose to stardom post this movie. They are also of the same age group, and both have acted in all three languages Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi (though it’s a cameo role in Tamil for Chay). Both have huge fan followings among the younger crowd. They are successful film stars with back-to-back movies lined up to release.

Samantha is faster!

Though Naga Chaitanya comes from a prominent film family of Tollywood, he seems a bit slow in terms of signing or completing movies. But his wife Samantha, who came with no film background seems super-fast in completing and signing the new movies. She has several blockbusters across various industries and has done over 47 movies so far apart from making her debut on TV and OTT. She has bagged in more awards and superhits. Naga Chaitanya has appeared in 27 movies so far.

Extrovert vs Introvert

Samantha is more active on social media and posts more aggressively on Twitter and Instagram that include posts from her personal life and professional life and has also gained more followers on the digital space. Whereas Naga Chaitanya seems a bit of a private guy who doesn’t share much info about his activities on social space, and this could be the result of his fewer social media followers.

Romantic films vs Women Centric films

Naga Chaitanya is seen doing back-to-back love stories with different actresses, whereas Samantha chooses different genre films majorly that are women-centric. For example, In Rajamouli’s Eega her role has a major share in the film than the hero’s role who just dies even before the interval. Also her other movies like ‘U-turn’, ‘Oh Baby’ and current ‘Shaakuntalam’ and even ‘A Aa’ have brought her lots more screen space than the co-actor. Likewise, she also experimented with other genre subjects such as ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ (Psychological thriller), ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’, S/O Satyamurthy, Brahmotsavam, ‘A Aa’ are fully family dramas and ‘Janatha Garage, Mersal, Irumbu Thirai, Super Deluxe, Mahanati’ social message oriented movies. Naga Chaitanya’s majority of films are romantic entertainers.
