Mahesh Babu's 'Maharshi' and Nani's 'Jersey' won big at the award ceremony


The 67th National Film Awards ceremony was held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The winners of the same were announced in March this year. The awardees were honoured in the presence of Minister of State for Finance of India Anurag Thakur, Information and Broadcasting secretary Apurva Chandra, Chairperson of Jury, Feature Films N Chandra and Additional Director General, Directorate of Film Festivals Chaitanya Prasad. The vice president of India M Venkaiah Naidu awarded and honoured the winners. A couple of Telugu films won big at the award ceremony. Let’s have a look at them!

Vamshi Paidipally receives Award for a Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment

Mahesh Babu-starrer 'Maharshi,' which was released in 2019, won the Award for a Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film’s director Vamshi Paidipally, producers Dil Raju and Shirish received the Award for Maharshi from Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at the 67th National Film Awards function in New Delhi on Monday. Also starring Pooja Hegde, the film earned Rs 150 crore in box office collections, becoming the third highest-grossing Telugu film of the year.

Raju Sundaram wins Best Choreography Award

Well-known dance choreographer Raju Sundaram, who is often seen on the silver screen as an actor, won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for a song in 'Maharshi.' Titled "Everest anchuna", the song was sung by Vedala Hemachandra and Vishnupriya Ravi. Devi Sri Prasad composed the tunes for the number, which has lyrics by Sri Mani. Raju Sundaram also choreographed Telugu films like 'Republic,' 'Krack,' 'Saaho,' 'Bharat Ane Nenu,' 'Gudumba Shankar' and to name a few.

Gowtam Tinnanuri receives Best Feature Film Award

Natural Star Nani's 'Jersey' was awarded the Best Feature Film – Telugu. The film’s director Gowtam Tinnanuri and producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi collected the award from Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu at the award ceremony. 'Jersey' is all about a failed cricketer, who decides to return to the sport in his late thirties to represent the Indian cricket team. Nani won plaudits for his performance in the film, co-starring Shraddha Srinath.

Navin Nooli collects his honour of Best Editing

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu presents Best Editing Award to Navin Nooli for 'Jersey' at the 67th National Film Awards function in New Delhi on Monday. Navin Nooli is known for his contribution to popular films like 'Uppena,' 'Krack,' 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo,' 'Rangasthalam' and many more. He was the man at the editing table for more than 40 films. Srikanth's 'Devaraya' was Navin’s first Telugu film as an editor.

Rajinikanth receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Rajinikanth is tagged as Thalaiva, not for any reason. Over the years, he has mesmerized the Indian film audiences with his movies and portrayal of characters, in a way only which he can. Rajinikanth was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest award in the field of cinema and the actor was present to receive the big award. He received the award from the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu.
