Actor Prakash Raj resigned as a member of MAA (Movie Artistes Association) after facing defeat in the recent elections.

The actor however stated that he will continue to act in

Telugu

movies, adding that he remains a ‘guest’ in

Tollywood

. He spoke to the press on Monday morning and said, “I would like to congratulate Vishnu for winning. Regionalism and nationalism are the reasons why

MAA

members did not pick me as their President. What should I do? My parents aren’t Telugu. I will continue to be a guest here and act in Telugu films.”

He added, “My bond with the filmmakers, producers, writers and artistes will remain the same. I respect the decision and wish Vishnu good luck for his term.” The actor was confident about his victory before the elections, even alleging his opponent of rigging postal ballots. He broke down in tears while conducting a press meet about it but Vishnu brushed it off.

Vishnu and Prakash hugged on Sunday morning while the polling was taking place and even addressed the media together. After his decision to resign, he texted Vishnu, who urged him to not be hasty and put off the decision till they met. It remains to be seen if he will pay heed.

Naga Babu

has also resigned from MAA in solidarity and has stated his resignation letter will be sent to the council within 48 hours. Vishnu will soon swear in as the president of MAA.
