Gopal passed away at the age of 94 on Thursday. Varadarajan was ailing due to age-related issues for the past couple of days and was admitted to a private hospital in the city for treatment, where he breathed his last on Thursday evening.

A police officer from Tamil Nadu cadre, Varadarajan was former Deputy Commissioner of Police in Chennai. He is survived by five children – three sons and two daughters.

His mortal remains were flown to Chennai on Friday and will be kept at his residence in Annanagar for people to come and pay their respects, said

“His funeral is scheduled for tomorrow in Chennai. People who wish to pay their respects can visit us at Annanagar residence or attend the funeral, which will be after 12 pm on Saturday,” Jeevitha added.
