'Akhanda 2': Nandamuri Balakrishna intervenes to settle release delay; Makers announce release date will be shared soon

Nandamuri Balakrishna's much-awaited film was set to release in theatres on December 5th, however, it has been postponed due to some financial issues. As per the latest reports, the Tollywood veteran seems to have taken a decisive step to ensure the smooth progress of his sequel, where he is expected to adjust an amount from his remuneration.

Balakrishna steps in with a massive remuneration adjustment

As per a report by Deccan Chronicle, Nandamuri Balakrishna has agreed to adjust nearly Rs 20 crore from his remuneration to help the producers clear pending dues and keep the project on track.

Legal proceedings in final stage

The report also suggests that the makers are said to be in the final stages of resolving an ongoing petition at the Madras High Court. With discussions nearing completion, the film's unit is now shifting focus to reworking its release plans.

Reports also suggest that a TDP Member of Parliament has stepped in to provide financial backing to the production house, ensuring the final round of expenses is managed without further burden.

Makers release public apology to fans

On Friday, the makers shared a post apologizing to the fans and sharing an update that the movie will be releasing soon. On X (formerly Twitter) wrote, "We've tried our absolute best to bring #Akhanda2 to the big screens, but despite our tireless efforts, sometimes, the most unexpected things happen, and unfortunately, this is that time. We sincerely apologize to all the fans and cinema lovers across the world who have been eagerly waiting for the film with so much anticipation. We are forever grateful to our dearest 'God of Masses' #NandamuriBalakrishna Garu and #BoyapatiSreenu Garu for standing by us during this challenging moment. AKHANDA-2 WILL HIT THE BULLSEYE WHENEVER IT ARRIVES…COMING VERY SOON WITH A NEW DATE."

Release date likely to shift to Christmas weekend

The team initially considered December 12 for the worldwide release. However, the date was postponed due to the arrival of the massive Hollywood blockbuster 'Avatar: Fire And Ash' on December 19.

Now it is expected that the film is likely to hit the big screens on December 25. It seems to be the most favourable release slot, during the Christmas holiday season. Meanwhile, Balakrishna's previous outing was 'Daaku Maharaaj' which turned out to be a superhit. 'Daaku Maharaaj' even received terrific reviews from Kerala, especially for Thaman's stunning background score. Overall the expectations are high for the sequel of 'Akhanda'.
