An ardent fan of Akkineni Nagarjuna from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh laid a foundation in 1997 after watching the actors’ film 'Annamayya', and he finished building the temple recently after 25 long years. The fans, followers and residents of Guntur raised funds to the tune of Rs1 crore to build a temple which they have named Sri Annamayya Swamy Mandiram to express their love for their favourite actor.

, 'Annamayya' went on to become one of the cult classic Telugu movies of all time. Also, this is one movie which is loved all across the world. The biopic of the 15th century the Hindu saint and composer Tallapaka Annamacharya carved a special place in everyone’s hearts and raked in moolah at the box office too.
From its songs, dialogues, and picturesque locales to the devotional scenes, this Nagarjuna and Ramya Krishnan and Kasturi-starrer remains etched in the minds of cinegoers. The film reinvented Nagarjuna at that time. He was doing different kinds of films, and Raghavendra Rao gave him a completely new image with great characterization.
