Allu Aravind on why Sai Pallavi was the perfect choice for 'Thandel': This role demands genuineness

Sai Pallavi, after the success of 'Amaran,' is seen on the silver screen with her latest Telugu film, 'Thandel,' co-starring with Naga Chaitanya in the lead. Recently, filmmaker Allu Aravind shared the reason behind casting the 'Premam' actress in the film.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Aravind revealed that Sai Pallavi was the perfect choice for the lead role of Satya because the character needed authenticity. He explained that he couldn't cast "just any fair-skinned actress from Bombay".

He said, "This role demands genuineness, and Sai Pallavi has an extraordinary ability to bring that to life. That's why we cast her.".

Aravind elaborated that Satya required someone who could project genuineness, and Sai Pallavi has an extraordinary ability to bring that to life. He praised her performance, expressing immense satisfaction with her portrayal in the film. Aravind added that he was happier as the film turned out to be better than what he had envisioned.

For her role in the film 'Thandel,' Sai Pallavi was reportedly paid Rs 5 crore. Although this is a more modest amount compared to Naga Chaitanya's Rs 15 crore salary.

'Thandel,' which stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, was released in theaters on February 7, 2025. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the movie is inspired by real-life events involving fishermen from the Srikakulam region of Andhra Pradesh who accidentally drift into Pakistani waters. The film portrays their journey back to their homeland and their loved ones.

About her upcoming roles, she will portray Mata Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana,' which is set to release in November 2026.
