Amala Paul’s Telugu dubbed film ‘

Aame

’ of her Tamil film ‘

Aadai

’ ran into a bit of an

issue

yesterday with the film not releasing on time.

The film was slated for

release

on July 19, but shows were cancelled with the producer stating financial issues and Amala Paul herself turning up to settle them. “#AmalaPaul waives her

salary

for the release of #Aadai! @Amala_ams not only give up a big sum but was also present at the ‘

Panchayat

’ (

settlement

negotiations), which may enable the film to release from evening shows all over.” (sic) someone wrote on social media, with Amala re-tweeting it too.

The film was finally released at 6PM on Friday in Tamil Nadu and on Saturday morning in Telugu states. A press-note about the same however states that

women organisations

opposing the film’s release was the reason for the release’s delay. It reads, “'Aame' release was stalled due to objections raised by few women organizations in Tamil Nadu. However, the makers are held talks and finally the film's first show was screened at 6 PM on July 19th.” (sic)

It was also added, “In Telugu states, the film has cleared all the hurdles and will release across all the theatres from Saturday. So the regular shows will continue as per the schedule.” (sic) ‘Aame’ is directed by Rathna Kumar and has received good response from critics and audience alike after its release.
