According to an interview in 123telugu in her early years, she talked about going for ballet, Kuchipudi, and Kathak dance courses, and she studied at a Californian school. Her eventual venture into acting seemed as natural to her as the rhythm of her steps, and these early years of dance preparation set her up for it.

The first film appearance of Avantika was nothing less than a fairy tale. She acted with Mahesh Babu in 'Brahmotsavam,' a movie she has always admired. Working in her mother tongue and participating in the Telugu film industry was not only a professional experience for her; it was also a personal one that helped her feel at ease with the idea of a career in entertainment at a young age.

Her dramatic and unexpected Hollywood debut was equally remarkable. Avantika had nearly given up after turning in a self-tape audition for 'Mean Girls' when, three months later, she was in Serbia filming 'TAROT' when she got the call from Paramount that would change her life, offering her the part of Karen. Her career underwent a dramatic change at this time, catapulting her into the spotlight in Hollywood.

Avantika adds that there has been a notable improvement in the situation for Indian-origin actors in Hollywood, which she attributes to the increased demand for diversity and representation. This is creating opportunities for many in the Indian diaspora in American entertainment that provide potential roles.
