Battle for the best among low-budget Telugu films

As many as four Telugu films are set to hit screens this weekend,

C/O Kancharapalem

, Manu, Premaku Raincheck and

Silly Fellows

, all belonging to different genres, having interesting trailers and pre-release buzz. But for Silly Fellows, most of the films feature relative newcomers, yet the filmmakers have been smart to promote the content and not the actors in them.

There are no guesses about the most-anticipated choice among movie-goers, Venkatesh Maha’s C/O Kancharapalem it is, all thanks to

Suresh Productions

who’ve been showcasing the film to every celebrity in the tinsel town to generate positive buzz. Manu is another film that can spring a surprise. Directed by Phanindra Narsetti whose work on the digital front has caught many eyeballs, makes his feature debut with the project that stars Gowtham, Chandini Chowdhary in leading roles.

Sunil meanwhile is back to doing what he’s best at- comedy. Though it’ll take a while for the actor to earn trust among audiences after an intermittently successful solo-hero stint, Allari Naresh and Sunil still make for an interesting comic-duo on paper. Maybe the last preference among movie goers, Premaku Raincheck has a premise that might generate reasonable interest too, of a boss who isn’t willing to take time out for romance at work. It’s a film made by a young team, has good music, is backed by Sharath Marrar.

While the good aspect is the variety that these films offer, though in terms of box-office, they all might end up eating into each other’s collections. Low-budget films may have little say in the industry, yet it’s advisable that a clash of this nature is avoided in the times to come.
