Hailing from Khammam, Telangana, K Dasarath (Kondapalli Dasarath Kumar) is one of the talented filmmakers of Telugu cinema. His work over the last decade has been able to warm hearts of many. There is a uniqueness in his films depicts emotions and human relations despite its commercial aspects. Dasarath might not be one of those filmmakers who keep striking headlines with their talks and future plans, but he is certainly someone who lets his work do all the talking. As the director turns 47 today on November 30, we give you a list of his best films that is simply a must watch!
Santosham
K Dasarath, who started his career as a screenwriter, made his directorial debut with ‘Santosham’. The film also marked the Tollywood debut of Bollywood actress Gracy Singh. Shriya Saran also played one of the leading ladies in the film. This is the story of an NRI architecture played by Akkineni Nagarjuna who falls in love with a village belle who is educated. They get married against the wishes of her parents. And rest is how they unite with their parents. With his debut film, Dasarath proved that he had a visual flair, distinctive style and knew how to implicate audiences in his stir, often transparent characters.
Sambaram
‘Sambaram’, directed by K Dasarath, highlights the character of protagonist Nithiin who plays a carefree guy who turns into a responsible citizen in order to win over his lady love. The duration of the film is brimming with stimulating emotional scenes and hilarious comedy sequences. The film starred Nikitha as the leading lady, while Seeta, Giri Babu, SV Krishna Reddy and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao were seen in significant roles. RP Patnaik had composed music for the film and as expected, he delivered one of his bests. Cinematography by Prasad is also one of the main highlights of the film.
Swagatham
The super hit, ‘Swagatam’ features Jagapathi Babu as a rich NRI businessman who helps an Indian businesswoman to get out of her financial issues. Directed by K Dasarath, the film highlights the performance of Jaggu Bhai and the leading ladies Anushka Shetty and Bhumika Chawla. RP Patnaik’s background score and soundtracks took the film to the next level. The film starred the ensemble comedians of Arjun, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Ali, Sunil, Venu Madhav, Mallikarjuna Rao, MS Narayana, LB Sriram, Ravi Babu, Jaya Prakash Reddy and Melkote, Satyam Rajesh, Lakshmipathi, Gundu Sudarshan, Gautam Raju and Chitti Babu.
Mr Perfect
The film marked a turning point in the career of K Dasarath, the captain of the movie. Dasarath directed another fantastic feature starring Darling Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal, Taapsee Pannu, K Viswanath, Prakash Raj, Sayaji Shinde and Kaushal Manda. This is the story of a young dynamic guy Vicky who never wanted to compromise in his life. However, in the end, realises that life is but full of compromises. Prabhas’ earnest, layered performance in the film is outstanding. The film has music by Devi Sri Prasad who has been applauded for his sincere work. Tollywood has many filmmakers, but none compares to K Dasarath.
