Birthday Special! Trivikram Srinivas: Critically and commercially successful Telugu films that were scripted by the dynamic filmmaker

The talented writer-and-filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas, who has contributed immensely to Telugu cinema, is celebrating his 47th birthday on November 7. Before becoming one of the top filmmakers in the industry, Trivikram developed scripts and penned dialogues for critically and commercially successful films. He was also a lyricist and wrote songs for the Ravi Teja starrer ‘Oka Raju Oka Rani’, co-starring bombshell Namitha in the female lead role.

On the occasion of the dynamic filmmaker’s birthday, here’s a look at some of his best works that were critically and commercially successful.

Rumours have long been rife that Trivikram stays alone while writing a bounded script and that he doesn’t take a long time to produce a satisfactory piece of work. ‘Swayamvaram’, the first script of Trivikram Srinivas is considered as one of his best films. It deals with a happy-go-lucky guy Shekar who falls in love with an aspirant singer, Priya but because of his lack of belief in the institution of marriage, he refused to settle down with her. Directed by K Vijaya Bhaskar, the film had marked the debuts of actors Venu Thottempudi and Laya in lead roles.

‘Chiru Navvutho’ is undoubtedly a beautiful romantic film that is at the same time intensely personal and overwhelmingly lovable. Directed by G Ram Prasad, the story revolves around a man with a degree in food science and nutrition and always wants to live his life to the fullest, and on his own terms. His simple life and philosophical thoughts earn him an admirer in a young girl, who he falls in love with. However, on learning the meaning of true love, she decides to follow her heart. The dialogues of this movie are regarded as one of the best works in Tollywood till date. Trivikram won a Nandi Award in the Best Dialogue Writer category for his work on the film.

‘Nuvvu Naaku Nachav’ marked the Tollywood debut of Aarthi Agarwal. It is a rom-com that revolves around a girl name Nandini, whose marriage has been fixed with someone, but she unexpectedly falls in love with another guy, Venkatesh. The film intertwines three themes of love, a father-son relation and a girl’s marriage into the story to create a great family drama with the right amount of comedy. Trivikram was bestowed with another Nandi award for his work.

'Manmadhudu', this is the story of a misogynist Abhiram played by Akkineni Nagarjuna, who mistreats his woman employees as he believed he had been cheated by a village belle, only to later find out that it wasn't so. The film deals with the stark contrasts of a woman's emotions, ranging from love and hate. With this film, Trivikram proved that he has a knack of observing humours instances and at the same time he doesn’t ignore the underlying poignancy.

‘Malliswari’ is again a rom-com where the central character played by Venkatesh, is on the lookout for a bride. Eventually, he finds his dream girl and falls in love with her, without knowing that she is a wealthy heiress. Starring Katrina Kaif as the leading lady, the film was commercially acclaimed upon its release and Trivikram received a Nandi Award in the Best Dialogue writer category for his work on the film. The movie, being shot in Visakhapatnam, marked the Tollywood debut of Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.
